Video has long been one of the best ways to market and advertise a product or brand. As early as a decade ago, you might simply have found success by only showcasing a product with a cheesy storyline. Well, it’s gotten pretty noisy out there since then and one of the new requirements of getting a high ROI on video is — story & authenticity.
We create films and videos for brands that are both story-driven and authentic. Also known as live-action video. We help brands tell stories that their audience WANTS to watch. Take a look at one of our favorite video projects below.
The uses for live-action videos are pretty limitless, but here’s a few we’ve created for brands in the past.
In 2009 Zappos decided to start using video to show their products instead of just still images. Shortly after, they reported seeing a 6% – 30% increase in sales on those products.
The new requirements of getting a high ROI on video is — story & authenticity.
Also, not to be forgotten is the close sister of video, that’s audio. Audio is an extremely important element of all the above examples, but audio can also be used by itself to create things like:
We always recommend starting with a strategy when using video to make sure it’s being used in a way that creates the greatest ROI for brands. The strength of video though is in building trust. And nothing builds trust quite like meeting real people and being inside real places. Video can also be used successfully for many other levels of a sales funnel, including gaining awareness and rewarding loyalty.
Video also promotes stronger SEO and increases we traffic to companies that use it. Video attracts 2-3x as many monthly visitors, doubles time on site, and has a 157% increase in organic traffic from search engines. (Source: MarketingSherpa)
The process for creating our video projects may differ from project to project, but the same key elements are always there. Starting first with strategy and understanding the goal of a project. Then it’s time to figure out the story we want to tell. When creating for authenticity, we stay far away from scripts and teleprompters. After we shoot a whole bunch of material including B-roll, we cut it all down in the editing phase to form a cohesive story.
Sometimes we also combine live-action skills with our motion design skillset to create a sort of visual hybrid that uniquely positions brands.
