Our 2023 Non-Profit Donation

December 19, 2023

At Made By Things, one of our goals for the year was to be better people. While that may seem like a very vague and open-ended goal, we decided we wanted to achieve it by giving to others. So we started two new annual traditions at MXT. Firstly, we developed a new program where we supply a non-profit with a week-long discovery session to help create a strategy for their marketing AND $25,000 of in-kind video, animation or design services lovingly crafted by our team.

Secondly, we started donating to non-profits of our team members’ choice. We first began at the end of last year, so this is technically our second year of giving. But still, we’re awfully proud of being able to give back to the community and keep this new tradition alive. So, without further ado, here are the non-profits our team chose to donate to this year.

All the non-profits we had the pleasure of working with this year!

Nationwide Children’s Hospital

Nationwide Children’s Hospital is based right in Columbus, OH and is one of the country’s largest not-for-profit freestanding pediatric networks.

Driving Mission: No child should be unable to access care simply because of an inability to pay. They are committed to providing the highest quality care.

Magic Yarn Project

The Magic Yarn Project is a whimsical non-profit with a great cause. They focus on making wigs and hats from yarn for children undergoing chemotherapy. These are much more comfortable for sensitive scalps than standard wigs and caps.

Driving Mission: To create magic in the lives of children battling cancer, and to inspire volunteerism to help make a difference. Children can be princesses, superheros, and just about any other character you can think of!

Ronald McDonald House Charities

The Ronald McDonald House has helped families stay close to their children all over the world as they receive life-saving care. They realized that caring for the family of a sick child is just as important as caring for the child.

Driving Mission: To create a world where all children have access to medical care and their families are supported and actively involved in their child’s care.

Harambee Christian School

Based in Columbus, Harambee Christian School is a high performing Christian private school serving students in grades Pre K-8.

Driving Mission: To provide the highest quality education possible to children who come from economically disadvantaged communities.

Columbus Humane

Columbus Humane has been around for 140 years and has rescued countless animals during their time. Not only do they help animals get adopted, they also save animals from abuse situations and run their own foster program.

Driving Mission: To fight animal cruelty, help animals in need, and advocate for their well-being.

Palestine Children’s Relief Fund

Palestine Children’s Relief Fund is working hard to protect children affected by war and has been since 1991. They envision a world where all children in the Middle East have access to healthcare regardless of nationality, religious or political affiliation.

Driving Mission: To provide medical and humanitarian relief collectively and individually to Arab children throughout the Levant, regardless of their nationality, politics or religion.

Plant with Purpose

Plant with Purpose seeks to reverse two of the world’s greatest challenges: global poverty and environmental damage. They view them as a connected issue as there is a direct link between deforestation and rural poverty around the world.

Driving Mission: To help support the environment and those affected by poverty through farming and reforestation.

Watershed Management Group

Watershed Management Group, based in Tucson, AZ, develops community-based solutions to ensure the long-term prosperity and health of people and the environment. They also provide people with the knowledge, skills, and resources to live sustainably.

Driving Mission: To create a world where the relationship between communities and the environment brings prosperity to all.

True Colors United

True Colors United is a national movement that implements innovative solutions to youth homelessness, but has a particular focus on the experiences of young LGBTQ+ people.

Driving Mission: To ensure that all homeless youth feel supported and safe while uplifting their voices.

Schizophrenia and Psychosis Action Alliance

The Schizophrenia and Psychosis Action Alliance is focused on solving foundational problems that create barriers to treatment, support and survival for people living with schizophrenia and those who care for them. It also works to fight stigma and discrimination related with mental illness.

Driving Mission: To advance systemic change and promote recovery through Research, Education, and Care and Advocacy and to find a cure for schizophrenia and psychosis spectrum disorders.
